Refers to Langholme Cattery Ltd (the service provider).

Langholme Cattery Ltd

Refers to the service provider, a boarding facility where animals are housed temporarily when they cannot stay at their owners’ home.

The Owner / Carer

Refers to the person(s) who has ownership and shall include a person who has the animal in possession, or who is assigned by the owner, or from a person assigned by the owner, to take care of the animal.

You / Your / You’re

Refers to The Owner / Carer.

The Nominated Emergency Contact

Refers to the person(s) The Owner / Carer wishes Langholme Cattery Ltd to contact in the event of an emergency.

The Designated Veterinary Surgeon

Refers to The Owner / Carer’s designated veterinary surgeon and/or practice.

Langholme Cattery Ltd’s Appointed Veterinary Practices

Refers to veterinary practices appointed by Langholme Cattery Ltd, including both in-hours and out-of-hours providers, should a situation arise where Langholme Cattery Ltd is unable to utilise the services of The Designated Veterinary Surgeon or where no designated veterinary surgeon has been provided.


1. General

1.1

All animals are boarded at The Owner / Carer’s risk, and they therefore take full liability. Langholme Cattery Ltd will take due care and diligence to ensure that the animal’s security and wellbeing is catered for at all times.

1.2

Whilst every possible attention is given to each animal boarded with us, we cannot be held responsible for any injury caused from one animal to another within the same family. By making a booking with Langholme Cattery Ltd, The Owner / Carer provides consent for their animals to share boarding facilities.

Should Langholme Cattery Ltd feel the need to separate them in the interest of the animal’s own safety, the relevant fee for the extra accommodation will be charged.

1.3

All cats should be registered with a veterinary practice and the contact details should be provided to the cattery.

1.4

All animals must be transported in a secure and suitable pet travel carrier.

1.5

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to refuse out-of-hours drop-offs and collections.


2. Sharing Boarding Facilities

2.1

Animals from the same family can only share the same boarding facility and The Owner / Carer must provide written permission.

2.2

Whilst every possible attention is given to each animal boarded with us, when family animals share boarding, Langholme Cattery Ltd cannot be held responsible for any injury caused from one animal to another within the same family.

Should Langholme Cattery Ltd feel the need to separate animals in the interest of their own safety, the relevant fee for additional accommodation will be charged.


3. Vaccination Details

3.1

All pets boarded must be fully vaccinated and the current vaccination certificate must accompany each pet during their stay.

3.2

The vaccination certificate must remain in the possession of Langholme Cattery Ltd throughout the boarding period.

3.3

Failure to provide a valid vaccination certificate for each pet will prevent boarding.

3.4

The certificate must show a booster vaccination having taken place within the last 12 months and signed off by a qualified veterinary surgeon.

3.5

The certificate must show the booster having been administered as part of a course of vaccinations.

3.6

Cat vaccinations must safeguard against Cat Flu and Feline Enteritis. Vaccination for Feline Leukaemia is not mandatory.

3.7

All animals must be covered by a recognised flea treatment before boarding.

3.8

Animals arriving with fleas will be treated accordingly and charged for treatment. Langholme Cattery Ltd accepts no liability for reactions or illness arising from flea treatment administration.

3.9

An effective worming treatment must have been administered prior to boarding.


4. Medical Record

4.1

If an animal has any medical condition(s), Langholme Cattery Ltd must be notified at the time of booking.

4.1.1

If a medical condition arises after booking, The Owner / Carer must notify Langholme Cattery Ltd no later than 48 hours prior to arrival.

4.1.2 Recent Illness, Symptoms, Veterinary Treatment & Disclosure Obligations Prior to Boarding

The Owner / Carer has an absolute and ongoing obligation to disclose to Langholme Cattery Ltd, prior to boarding, any illness, injury, medical condition, behavioural concern, symptom, infectious condition, parasite, veterinary consultation, prescribed medication, investigation, procedure, or veterinary advice relating to the animal(s) within the 14 days immediately preceding boarding.

The Owner / Carer must provide full and accurate written details including:

  • The nature and duration of symptoms or condition
  • Dates symptoms occurred
  • Details of vomiting, diarrhoea, coughing, sneezing, discharge, lethargy, behavioural changes, appetite changes, wounds, injuries, or mobility concerns
  • Details of veterinary consultations or advice received
  • The name of the veterinary practice attended
  • Any diagnosis, treatment, medication, monitoring, aftercare, or ongoing concerns

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the absolute right to:

  • Refuse boarding
  • Require veterinary clearance prior to boarding
  • Cancel or terminate boarding
  • Isolate the animal(s)
  • Seek veterinary assessment
  • Require immediate collection of the animal(s)

Failure to fully disclose relevant medical or veterinary information shall constitute a material breach of these Terms and Conditions.

Langholme Cattery Ltd accepts no liability whatsoever for:

  • Any illness, injury, deterioration, relapse, complication, or death arising from pre-existing, undisclosed, incubating, or previously treated conditions
  • Any contagious illness introduced into the cattery
  • Any consequences arising from incomplete, inaccurate, misleading, or omitted medical disclosures

4.2

If Langholme Cattery Ltd has not been notified of such condition(s) or medication, we reserve the right to refuse admission.

4.3

Medication will only be administered as instructed by a qualified veterinary surgeon.

4.4

The Owner / Carer must provide written consent for medication administration and detailed administration instructions.

4.5

Where necessary, The Owner / Carer must provide training or demonstrations regarding medication administration.

4.6

Medication will only be used for the animal for which it is prescribed and following veterinary instructions.

4.7

Medications will be clearly labelled and safely stored at the correct temperature.

4.8

Unused medicines will be returned upon departure.

4.9

Cleaning, grooming, or wiping regimes will be carried out where necessary and safe to do so.

4.10

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to contact The Owner / Carer’s veterinary surgeon regarding illness or injury.

4.11

Langholme Cattery Ltd will administer medication to manageable cats. Where veterinary intervention becomes necessary due to aggression or safety concerns, veterinary fees remain the responsibility of The Owner / Carer.

4.12

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to refuse boarding to any cat that appears unwell or dangerous.


5. Emergencies / Illnesses

5.1

Whilst every care and precaution is taken, Langholme Cattery Ltd cannot be held responsible for illness, disease, injury, deterioration, disappearance, escape, or death occurring during boarding.

5.2

If veterinary treatment is required during boarding, Langholme Cattery Ltd will attempt to contact The Owner / Carer and/or The Nominated Emergency Contact before arranging treatment.

5.3

It is The Owner / Carer’s responsibility to ensure an emergency contact is available at all times.

5.4

If we cannot contact The Owner / Carer and urgent treatment is necessary, Langholme Cattery Ltd may seek treatment through either The Designated Veterinary Surgeon or Langholme Cattery Ltd’s appointed veterinary practices.

5.5

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to use its nominated veterinary practice(s) of choice, including both in-hours and out-of-hours providers, where veterinary treatment or advice is required.

5.6

All veterinary and associated costs are payable by The Owner / Carer.

5.7

The Owner / Carer accepts that veterinary treatment may be sought where necessary and agrees to pay any resulting costs not covered by insurance.

5.8

Langholme Cattery Ltd will exercise every possible care and attention but accepts no responsibility for matters outside of its control.

5.9 Pre-Existing Illnesses and Post-Collection Responsibility

Langholme Cattery Ltd accepts no liability whatsoever for any illness, condition, injury, infection, disease, medical complication, deterioration, disappearance, or death that existed prior to the animal’s arrival at the cattery, whether disclosed or undisclosed.

Once the animal has been collected and has left the premises of Langholme Cattery Ltd, all responsibility immediately transfers back to The Owner / Carer.

Langholme Cattery Ltd shall not be held liable for:

  • Any illness or injury occurring during transportation
  • Any illness or condition developing after collection
  • Any stress-related conditions occurring after departure
  • Any incidents occurring after the animal has left the premises

5.10 Death of an Animal

Boarding animals carries inherent risks including stress-related illness, undetected medical conditions, infectious disease, sudden deterioration, injury, or unexpected death.

Langholme Cattery Ltd accepts no liability whatsoever for illness, deterioration, injury, escape, disappearance, or death arising from:

  • Pre-existing or undisclosed conditions
  • Stress-related conditions
  • Events outside reasonable control
  • Emergency veterinary decisions
  • Veterinary treatment complications

Where emergency treatment, euthanasia, transport, storage, cremation, or welfare decisions are required and Langholme Cattery Ltd cannot contact The Owner / Carer within a reasonable timeframe, The Owner / Carer expressly authorises Langholme Cattery Ltd and/or the attending veterinary surgeon to make any decision considered necessary in the animal’s best interests.

All veterinary fees, cremation fees, storage fees, disposal fees, and associated costs remain payable by The Owner / Carer.


6. Emergency Protocol

6.1

In the event of an emergency, The Nominated Emergency Contact may be contacted by telephone, text, or email.

6.2

Langholme Cattery Ltd may engage veterinary services where required.

6.3

The Owner / Carer will also be notified where possible by telephone, text, or email.


7. Aggressive / Destructive Temperaments

7.1

Langholme Cattery Ltd may accept animals with aggressive or destructive temperaments at its discretion.

7.2

Where animals prove aggressive towards other animals or staff, or destructive to facilities, Langholme Cattery Ltd may require immediate collection.

7.3

All damage caused by an animal shall be chargeable to The Owner / Carer.


8. Minimum Age

8.1

Langholme Cattery Ltd operates a minimum age policy of 4 months.

8.2

Male cats over six months old are accepted only if neutered.


9. Diet

9.1

Langholme Cattery Ltd strongly recommends animals remain on their normal diet during boarding.

9.2

Animals will be fed according to The Owner / Carer’s instructions and dietary needs.

9.3

All food is stored and prepared correctly. Animals will receive a minimum of two meals per day.

9.4

Where Langholme Cattery Ltd does not stock a required food, The Owner / Carer must supply sufficient food for the duration of boarding.

9.5

Langholme Cattery Ltd accepts no liability for issues arising from dietary changes where food is not supplied.

9.6

Alternative diets or brands may be used if an animal refuses its normal food.


10. Bedding & Toys

10.1

Langholme Cattery Ltd provides hygienic beds and bedding.

10.2

The Owner / Carer may provide personal bedding or toys.

10.3

Langholme Cattery Ltd accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to belongings accompanying the animal.


11. Lost Property

11.1

Items left for more than 7 days following collection may be disposed of by Langholme Cattery Ltd.


12. Boarding Fees

12.1

Boarding fees are charged daily.

12.2

All outstanding fees must be paid in full on or before collection.

12.3

Extended stays will be charged at the applicable daily rate.

12.4

Where stays are curtailed, refunds are at the sole discretion of Langholme Cattery Ltd.


13. No Show

13.1

A No-Show refers to failure to present the animal for boarding within 24 hours of the booking commencement date.

13.2

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to cancel No-Show bookings.

13.3

The Owner / Carer remains liable for all boarding fees relating to the booking.


14. Late Cancellation Charge

14.1

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to charge the full booking period for late cancellations, non-attendance, or late amendments.

14.2

Cancellations or amendments within 7 working days of boarding commencement may incur full boarding charges.


15. Uncollected & Abandonment

15.1

Where animals are not collected on the agreed departure date, charges shall continue to accrue daily until collection.

15.2

Charges may include boarding, feeding, administration, veterinary treatment, medication, transport, and associated welfare costs.

15.3

Langholme Cattery Ltd will make reasonable attempts to contact The Owner / Carer and/or The Nominated Emergency Contact.

15.4

If animals remain uncollected, Langholme Cattery Ltd may issue formal written notice requiring settlement and collection.

15.5

If collection does not occur within the notice period, the animals may be deemed abandoned under the Torts (Interference with Goods) Act 1977.

15.6

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to:

  • Rehome the animal(s)
  • Transfer ownership
  • Transfer to an animal welfare organisation
  • Recover outstanding costs through legal action

16. Payment

16.1

Payment for boarding is required on or before arrival.

16.2

Bookings over £100 may require a non-refundable deposit of 25%.

16.3

Bank transfers must be completed prior to or on arrival.

16.4

Cash payments must be made on or before arrival.

16.5

Payment references must include surname and animal name.


17. Privacy Policy

17.1

By accepting these Terms and Conditions, The Owner / Carer also agrees to the Langholme Cattery Ltd Privacy Policy available on the website.

17.2

It is The Owner / Carer’s responsibility to familiarise themselves with the Privacy Policy.

17.3

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to update these Terms and Conditions where necessary.


18. Declaration

18.1

IT IS THE OWNER / CARER’S RESPONSIBILITY TO ENSURE THEY HAVE READ, UNDERSTOOD, AND FAMILIARISED THEMSELVES WITH LANGHOLME CATTERY LTD’S TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

BY MAKING A BOOKING WITH LANGHOLME CATTERY LTD THROUGH ANY COMMUNICATION CHANNEL, THE OWNER / CARER CONFIRMS ACCEPTANCE OF THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.

18.2

Langholme Cattery Ltd reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions periodically on its website.
